Job Summary
The Home Supervisor is responsible for overseeing group home staff and coordinating student services and care within a larger group home environment. The Home Supervisor ensures that students are safe, receive quality care, that instructional programming is implemented effectively, and the group home is maintained to meet or exceed licensing regulations and standards. This supervisor may be responsible for managing up to two Home Supervisor Assistants and up to 24 Direct Care Professionals.
Primary Functions
- Assist each student’s team in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals and evaluate present levels of performance.
- Monitor instructional programming to ensure consistency and quality of programs.
- Participate in student reviews, home management meetings, all-staff meetings, team meetings, and other student-related meetings.
- Communicate with parents of each child in the group home. Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents.
- Contact and report to parents in a timely manner regarding any accidents, special incidents, or use of emergency safety interventions and seclusion/time-out.
- Assist the group home team in implementing off-campus activities that provide opportunities for community integration.
- Develop and meet the budget for the group home.
- Train and develop Home Assistant Supervisors.
- Serve on rotation for on-campus supervisor and be available on campus to monitor the daily operations for the entire campus when scheduled.
- Complete any other duties as assigned.
- Collect weekly data for each student.
- Assist with direct care of students when staff shortages occur.
- Review forms and documentation, including Special Incident Reports, Emergency Procedure Reports, Medication Error Reports, Seizure Reports, Accident Reports, etc.
- Secure money from incidental accounts to meet students’ needs and/or purchases for student programs.
- Ensure compliance with grocery purchasing guidelines and meal program standards.
- Maintain, balance, and provide oversight for the group home cash box and ensure that monies are used appropriately for recreation and leisure activities for the students.
- Conduct daily informal and weekly formal home inspections, or schedule such inspections with the HAS, to ensure compliance with KDHE and DCF.
- Respond to voicemails and emails in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Submit maintenance requests when necessary to ensure home is properly maintained.
- Ensure that office and home supplies are ordered and stocked appropriately.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Educational, Training, and Licensure Requirements
- High School Diploma required. Associates Degree highly preferred.
- Experience as a Home Supervisor Assistant in good standing, or one (1) year of supervisory experience working with children with Autism or developmental disabilities in a residential setting.
- Must maintain current CPR certification, driver training and Physical Management System training.
Physical Requirements
- Able to perform significant, prolonged, and frequent amounts of walking, standing, sitting, stooping, squatting, bending, twisting, reaching, and kneeling.
- Regular lifting of up to 30 pounds.
