Wichita, KAN., Aug. 29, 2024 – Heartspring, a leading provider of therapies and special education for pediatric neurodevelopment has acquired two buildings at the intersection of Topeka and English in Wichita’s downtown Healthcare Corridor. These buildings will enable significant expansion of its Pediatric Outpatient Services, currently located near K-96 and Webb Road, and address growing demand for therapies for pediatric neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs).
Heartspring’s new space downtown will be a cutting-edge, multi-clinic healthcare facility offering diagnosis and clinical interventions for children with NDDs, disabilities and delays, including communication and motor challenges, intellectual and learning delays, ADHD, autism, and more.
“Heartspring has a transformative opportunity to bridge the clinical services gap for children and families affected by neurodevelopmental disorders and help position Wichita as a regional and national hub for specialized care,” said Dan Soliday, President & CEO of Heartspring. “Whether caregivers notice delays in their child’s development and wonder if something needs attention or receive a diagnosis like autism, it’s an emotional and challenging journey to secure expert care. The number of families affected is rapidly increasing, and Heartspring is going to reduce the hurdles they face.”
The strategic location for Heartspring near the Wichita Biomedical CampusSM enhances research, workforce development, and partnership opportunities with Wichita State University, WSU Tech, University of Kansas, and others.
“Heartspring’s acquisition of these two downtown buildings highlights the Wichita Biomedical Campus and biomedical corridor’s impact on driving both healthcare and economic growth in our city,” said Jeff Fluhr, President of the Greater Wichita Partnership. “This strategic move enhances Heartspring’s specialized care capabilities and reinforces Wichita’s position as a hub for healthcare innovation. It aligns with our vision for intentional growth and positions downtown for continued transformational opportunities.”
“Heartspring’s presence in our biomedical corridor will support workforce and talent retention, and foster growth that strengthens our economy and business community,” said John Rolfe, President and CEO of the Greater Wichita Chamber of Commerce. “This expansion will help the Greater Wichita area continue to thrive.”
The timing of Heartspring’s expansion aligns with the escalating need for specialized therapies in Wichita and the surrounding region. The CDC now estimates one in six U.S. children have a neurodevelopmental disorder. In Kansas alone, the population of children with developmental delays has increased by nearly 200%, with autism rates rising by 324% since 2005, according to the Kansas Department of Education.
Heartspring plans to begin designing for renovation and construction of the new space fall of 2024, with an anticipated occupancy in the next four to six years. Brick and Mortar Event Venue will continue to operate in the building through August 2026. Other occupant leases will be honored to completion.
